The existing site contained a dilapidated single-storey flat roofed bungalow, dating from the 1960s. Our client appointed us from RIBA Stage 1, with a brief to rejuvenate the property and increase its size.
Working alongside Chichester District Council, we were able to obtain approval for a contemporary two-storey home. The height and footprint were carefully considered to maximise views to the garden landscaping, while retaining the character of the bungalow and integrating it into the surroundings.

The decrepit building was transformed to provide this coastal house with a modern and rejuvinated identity. Linear geometry forms crisp edges, enhanced through the use of contemporary finishes including natural timber and stone cladded walls below sedum and zinc roof coverings.
Openings in white render are outlined by dark aluminium glazing, with the cantilevered flat roof suspended over a set of large aluminium sliding doors that open up to the garden, finishing the home with intricate detailing.
