The client’s initial brief looked to review options that explored refurbishment of the existing dwelling versus a replacement house. Demolition down to the existing piled foundations provided the best solution for minimising the impact to the neighbours and harbour.

We worked closely with Havant Borough Council to ensure that the replacement dwelling was designed with a sympathetic approach to the surrounding context. The use of cedar cladding and a standing seam zinc roof have allowed the scheme to weather and blend into the surrounding harbour views over time. This is aided by the unique roof form which shifts in scale across the two storeys to form a protected entrance courtyard for the clients.
