The Lake House site was a former gravel quarry which has been disused since the 1970s. There was a dilapidated shack on the site which the client wanted to rebuild into a holiday home for his family and friends. Through a Certificate of Lawful Use and a subsequent full application, permission was duly granted.
The dwelling is a Greenoak framed building with cedar cladding to the walls, together with cedar shingles on the roof. The natural materials help create a dwelling that sits very comfortably on the site of the lake. The house has a mechanical heat and ventilation system and a bio disc waste digester since it is only accessible via a forest track and is partially off grid.
